PEBC Pharmacy Technician exam

The Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) has developed and piloted certification examinations to assess pharmacy technicians seeking to become regulated. In August 2009, PEBC administered a pilot Pharmacy Technician Qualifying Examination in Toronto. The exam consisted of a multiple choice component and an objective structured performance examination (OSPE). PEBC and the Ontario College of Pharmacists collaborated as major partners in the development of this examination, with additional support from the Alberta College of Pharmacists, the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists. This pilot research, as well as results from a second pilot conducted in March 2010 in Hamilton, Toronto and Edmonton, concluded that the examinations were valid, reliable and defensible. The first official Pharmacy Technician Qualifying Examinations were held in August 2010 in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. For additional information, visit PEBC’s website.
