Alberta - Alberta Pharmacy Practice Initiative explores pharmacist remuneration

Description:

  • From March 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010, the Alberta Pharmacy Practice Model Initiative explored how community-based pharmacists can be remunerated for their clinical skills and expanded scope of practice in the provision of patient care services. This project was administered by the Alberta Pharmacists’ Association with funding provided by Alberta Health and Wellness. http://www.rxa.ca/PharmacyGrants/PPMI.aspx

Pharmacist Remuneration:

  • Alberta Pharmacy Practice Models Initiative 
    • Pharmacists were remunerated during this pilot project. A letter dated June 29, 2010 from the Minister of Health and Wellness indicated that a new compensation model for pharmacy services was not ready to be announced, thus interrupting the continuity and sustainability of the expanded services that were offered as part of the pilot. http://www.rxa.ca/Content_Files/Files/Zwozdesky_Jun292010.pdf
