Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy Announces Support for the Blueprint for Pharmacy

Toronto – The Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy (CFP) is pleased to announce its’ support for the Blueprint for Pharmacy. The Blueprint is a collaborative initiative for managing the changes required to align pharmacy practice with the health care needs of Canadians. It represents a unified Vision for the future of the profession in Canada: Optimal drug therapy outcomes for Canadians through patient-centred care.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors recently approved the acceptance of donations through its “giving page” (http://www.canadahelps.org/GivingPages/GivingPage.aspx?gpID=12141), in support of the Blueprint’s’ various initiatives.

“The Blueprint for Pharmacy represents a significant opportunity for pharmacists and the pharmacy community to unite and move forward with a common vision of optimal therapy outcomes for Canadians through patient-centred care. As a pharmacist and board member of the Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy, I am pleased to support this important initiative”, states CFP President, Ryan Itterman.

The Blueprint Fundraising Committee, chaired by Virginia Cirocco, has been working diligently over the past several months to secure corporate funding. “While we anticipate  the bulk of the programs funding will come from pharmaceutical companies and pharmacy head offices, we do believe there is a significant role for individual pharmacists in support of this initiative.”, states Ms. Cirocco. She added, “It’s an important message from pharmacist’s to demonstrate that they are fully behind this initiative to advance the profession.”

Donations made to the Foundation, through the CFP “giving page” will be directed towards Blueprint Implementation Plan-related projects. It is important to note that CFP Board Members, Ms. Marnie Mitchell (CEO, BCPhA) and Dr. David Hill (Dean, U of Sask. School of Pharmacy) are also members of the Blueprint Steering Committee.

“CFP has been a supporter of the Blueprint since its’ launch in 2007.”, stated CFP Treasurer, Mitchell. “We also supported the launch of the BP-NCO in 2010.  We felt it was only natural that we look for ways to support the initiative going forward. The Canadian Foundation for Pharmacy provides pharmacists the unique opportunity of supporting their profession, while receiving a charitable tax receipt” she added.
